Ajoba – An Unheard Roar of Wild Beast

Sanjay Dahake’s recent Marathi flick "SHALA" has become a new milestone for those who want to start their journey in the glamor world, and now movie fans are also expecting something more hatke from the makers of the film. The director has already picked a subject for his new film. His next project will be around a wild life topic, which is yet to be explored in Marathi cinema.

He has revealed the name of his upcoming film on a popular social networking site. And, the unique film name, Ajoba, has already generated great amount of curiosity in people’s mind.

Ajoba was the first wild cat to be collared with a GPS transmitter. For those who don’t know, the GPS technology helps researchers find out the geographic locations of animals living in jungles.

He was apparently transferred to a new habitat in order to minimize the excessive no. of leopards in National Park. The researchers used GPS tracker to track down the activities of this animal. Initially, they thought that he will just roam in the area and will behave like most of the other animals. But they were shocked, when he actually started traveling back to his previous home in Mumbai.

The animal, however, died in an unfortunate road accident before anyone could help him rescue from the troubled life.

Leopards are not venturing into our cities but we have encroached upon their territory,” said renowned Marathi film director Sujay Dahake as he discussed the plot for his new movie based on the true-life of a leopard nicknamed 'Ajoba' (Grandfather).

Inspiration from this movie came to Dahake after reports surfaced of the accidental death of the leopard in 2011.
